The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas

This 2017 release by Angie Thomas is a great book for all ages. It is a must-read, however, for young adults. Thomas does a great job of humanizing an issue we all hear about, no matter what side of the aisle you find yourself on. For adult readers, The Hate U Give puts you back in those confusing teenage days, allowing us empathy and insight into an oft-derided and misunderstood generation. Everyone, for example, can relate to Starr's feeling of not fitting in.

Angie Thomas handles the divisive topic of police brutality and racism with tact, insight, and empathy - giving us all a friend to cry with, root for, and ultimately stand beside. You can expect to see this one popping up on young adult reading lists (and soon, movie theaters!) across the country.
